Shehu Sani, the senator representing Kaduna Central, has lost his polling unit by a wide margin to All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial candidate, Uba Sani.
Shehu Sani is seeking reelection to the Red chamber under the People’s Redemption Party (PRP). He lost to Uba Sani in the APC primaries before he defected to PRP.
Shehu Sani polled 51 votes to Uba Sani’s 236 votes at Polling Unit 20, Maska road Ungwar Sarki ward, in Kaduna North Local Government. The People’s Democratic Party got 34 votes.
The senator transferred his polling unit from Tudun Wada to Ungwar Seriki because the later is closer to his house.
After voting, Sen Sani expressed hope that the ongoing presidential and national assembly elections would produce better and acceptable outcomes.
He said the elections were peaceful, seamless and orderly before stating its final outcome would determine the overall success of the exercise.
Shehu Sani added: “It is too early to give credit to the process, an election is not about starting point but its end and result of collation. I am old enough in elections to be careful of giving credit to election processes until it is over.”
“Elections in which citizens vote for their leaders, they should also note that whoever they vote for as a representative should be someone who they would wholeheartedly and sincerely vouch their lives for.
“If this country must move forward, we must have people who are determined and committed to have the common man at heart and the progress of the nation. We must elect leaders that will bring us together, unite us and ensure the progress of the nation,” Senator Shehu Sani added.
In the presidential polls, APC garnered 292 votes while PDP had 23 votes.
