INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu
The National Legal Adviser of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Mr. Emmanuel Enoidem, on Sunday said the postponement of the general elections barely four hours to the scheduled time by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has taken the country 50 years backward.

Enoidem, in an interview in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, described the postponement as “a monumental show of shame, gross embarrassment and most humiliating and damaging to our national image.”

He said it was unfortunate that INEC was unable to plan and conduct credible polls within a time frame of four years constitutionally given to it, despite the assurances given to Nigerians.

Enoidem said, “The emptiness of the boast came to the fore at a very expensive cost when it was discovered just five hours to the elections that INEC had logistics problems (whatever that means), forcing the postponement of the elections.

“It is time for the Buhari administration to come to an end. This government has brought untold embarrassment, disappointment and national shame to this country in more ways that can’t be mentioned.

“This government has taken us more than 50 years backward.”
