All public office holders in Kaduna and other parts of the region have been directed to declare their assets in their own interest or face the wrath of law.
The State Director, Code of Conduct Bureau, (CCB), Mallam Yusuf Muhammad who gave the warning in Kaduna during a monthly briefing with staff in his office said that no excuse would be tolerated from public or political office holders who failed to declare their assets.

A statement also issued and signed by the CCB Kaduna Head of Operations, Babajo Adamu, stated that: “every public officer should declare his or her assets and liabilities upon assumption of office, at the end of the term of office and at the interval of four years for public officers still in the employment of the government whether federal, state or local government.”

The statement made available to journalists in Kaduna, stressed that the responsibility to collect, fill and return the form rest solely with the declarant, urging all staff in the state to collect the form and declare their assets.

On the CCB/CCT vs CJN trial, the director who expressed his support, said that the action is constitutional, and therefore directed all public servants to be law abiding and see assets declaration process as mandatory in public service life.

He added that upholding the principles and processes of assets declaration by public office holders would make the country corruption free.

Meanwhile, all efforts made by journalists to verify the total number of defaulters of assets declaration in Kaduna failed as relevant officers contacted on phone refused to disclose the number.
