A 27-year-old applicant, Ibrahim Bindiga, alias Tsallen Tunkiya, of the Filin Samji Quarters, Katsina, has been remanded in the Katsina Prison for culpable homicide by a Katsina Senior Magistrates’ Court.

Bindiga was alleged to have stabbed a neighbour, one Usman Abubakar, to death during an argument.

According to the police, the accused stabbed the deceased with a knife three times in the stomach and once on the thigh during the disagreement.

The father of the deceased, Abu Abubakar, reported the incident at the Central Police Station, Katsina, leading to Bindiga’s arrest and subsequent arraignment in court.

The Police First Information Report on the incident revealed that Usman died on the spot as a result of his injuries.

His corpse was taken to the General Hospital, Katsina, where a doctor certified him dead, while his remains were later released to the family for burial.

Bindiga was charged for culpable homicide under Section 221 of the Penal Code.

The police prosecutor, Sergeant Lawal Bello, said investigation into the crime was still in progress and requested for an adjournment.

Senior Magistrate Fadile Dikko adjourned the case till February 7, 2019, for the arraignment of the accused and directed that Bindiga should be remanded in prison.
