• EFCC raises alarm over scam mail
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said its attention has been drawn to the activities of fraudsters who disguise as officers of the commission and send scam mails to individuals, purporting such to be from the commission, with the aim of extorting money from them.

Tony Orilade, the acting spokesman of the commission in a statement yesterday, in Abuja, said the EFCC would never demand for gratification to “kill” an investigation, and no operative would invite a suspect to any location apart from their designated offices, which could be found on its website.

Orilade disclosed that the commission has uncovered a number of email addresses, telephone numbers and websites used by fraudsters to perpetrate such fraudulent activities, and is acting on them.

He urged members of the public not to send money to any fraudster demanding money in the name of the EFCC for whatever purpose, and to desist from engaging in any communications with them.
