Land Boundary Dispute: Embrace peace, Governor Ahmed tells Offa/Erin-Ile people
The Kwara State Governor, Abdulfatah Ahmed, has said he is employing dialogue to resolve the violent clash that erupted between Offa and Erin-Ile communities after the Supreme Court delivered its judgment on the boundary dispute case on December 14, 2018.

The Supreme Court in a judgment had ceded the disputed land to Erin-Ile and awarded a cost of N500,000 against the Apata family of Offa.

The President of the Erin-Ile Progressive Union,  Chief Samuel Olu Alabi, said the town would implement the Supreme Court judgment.

Ahmed, however, called on the people of Erin-Ile and Offa to remain calm and maintain law and order in the aftermath of the Supreme Court judgment.

The governor, in a statement by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Communications, Dr Muyideen Akorede, urged the people of both communities to refrain from publishing or otherwise circulating unauthorised interpretations of the said judgment.

This, he said, was because the state government was employing dialogue as a means of finding an amicable and sustainable solution to the dispute.

Ahmed stressed that the government would continue to uphold its constitutional mandate of upholding the welfare and security of all citizens and residents of Offa, Erin-Ile and indeed all communities in the state.

He, therefore, urged those residents in all parts of the two towns to go about their normal and lawful activities as the government was currently in consultation with the leaders of both communities to resolve the issue.

Ahmed described Erin-Ile and Offa as peace-loving, long-standing neighbours with a shared commitment to the development of their areas in an atmosphere of mutual trust and peaceful coexistence.
