Twenty-two-year-old Mathew Adetunji has been dragged before an Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife for allegedly stealing of a Bajaj motorcycle belonging to a woman, Risikat Adegoke.

The accused allegedly stole the motorcylce in Modakeke, the headquarters of the Ife East Area Office, Osun State.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Ona Glory, explained that the accused committed the offence on December 14, 2018, in the Itamerin area of Modakeke.

Glory added that the accused stole a red Bajaj Boxer motorcycle with number plate FKJ 531 QJ; chassis No: MD2A18AY3JWB89078, and engine No: DUZWJB89184, valued at N286,000, property of Risikat Adegoke.

According to him, the offence contravenes sections 383 and 390 (10) (a) of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun State, 2003.

The accused had no legal representation, but pleaded not guilty to the one count of stealing.

Despite asking for bail, Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji refused him bail and ordered that the accused be remanded in prison custody.

The accused was remanded in the Ile-Ife Prison till January 7, 2019, when the matter will come up for hearing.
