The Zone 2 Police Command has arraigned six meat van operators for allegedly stealing N46,416,000 belonging to companies owned by their colleagues.
Newsmen learnt that the defendants, Alhaji Abdul-Ghani Abdul-Mojeed, 51; Alhaji Abass Akintunde, 66; Ojo Michael, 47; Alhaji Tajudeen Lawal, 54; Ramon Niniola, 63; and Adeniyi Musibau, 54, conspired among themselves and allegedly stole the sum belonging to Bobby Foods and Services Limited, United Butchers Association, Lagoon Butchers Association and Ajumoni Royal Ventures.
According to the police prosecutor, Ingobo Emby, the defendants committed the alleged offences between 2012 and 2018 at the Abattoir Complex, Oko-Oba, Agege, Lagos.
He added that the offences contravened Section 287(8) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The defendants were arraigned before an Igbosere Magistrates’ Court on two counts of conspiracy and stealing.
They pleaded not guilty to the charges.
