The Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ibrahim Idris has given orders to the commissioners of police and assistant inspector generals of police to tighten security nationwide.
This is in readiness for the festive season of Christmas and the new year. With people going on holiday the criminals also see this as opportunities for burglaries, theft, robberies. These are the main crimes that the Police will be focusing on.
The police spokesperson, Jimoh Moshood disclosed on Sunday in a statement.
“AIGs, CPs are directed by the IGP to re-gird crime prevention and detection strategies, and measures to ensure adequate security throughout the period of festivity,” Moshood said.
He advised all political parties to strictly abide by the Electoral Act 2010 (as amended) INEC guidelines. He urges them to play the game according to the rules.
