The mother of the victim had told our correspondent that the Investigating Police Officer in charge of the case, whose name she gave as Inspector Modupe Ogundipe, allegedly vowed not to have anything to do with the suspects on the grounds that they were notorious and that one of them had just returned from the prison.

However, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, had denied the claim and informed our correspondent that one of the suspects’ mother had been arrested for aiding the escape of her son.

She ordered that the accused should be remanded in the Ibara Prison, Abeokuta, pending the perfection of their bail conditions.

However, a source told our correspondent that the DPO of the Ajuwon Police Station, Afolabi Kazeem, was summoned to the state police headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta on Monday after newsmen report.

The source added that the summons prompted the police to arraign the women in court.
