Nasarawa commission sacks 20 workers for assaulting CJ
The Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission has terminated the appointment of 20 members of staff for allegedly assaulting the state Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Dikko, and participating in the ongoing industrial action declared by the Judicial Staff Union of Nigeria in the state.

Those dismissed included the state JUSUN Chairman, Jimoh Musa, and other officials and prominent members of the union.

The Executive Secretary, Nasarawa State Judicial Service Commission, Hafsat Turaki-Sanda, disclosed this in a statement in Lafia, the state capital on Thursday.

The statement read in part, “Following a directive of the JSC, the Chief Judge, Justice Suleiman Dikko, has approved the dismissal of 20 staff members for physically assaulting the CJ on November 13.”

It directed the affected workers to pick up their dismissal letters from the executive secretary of the commission.

The commission further directed them to report to the Nasarawa State Police Command headquarters to answer questions on their roles in the attack on the CJ.

Other workers were directed to report to work or face a similar treatment.

When contacted, the JUSUN chairman, who spoke through the Public Relations Officer of the union, Solomon Iyigulu, said the union was on strike and was not aware of the development.

He, however, denied assaulting the CJ and advised JUSUN members to continue to stay away from work until they receive further directives from the leadership of the union.

The Nasarawa State chapter of JUSUN had embarked on an indefinite strike action on November 13 to press home its demands for better working conditions.
