Benue state police command has arraigned a gang of seven suspected armed herdsmen militia before a Chief Magistrate Court in Gbajimba headquarters of Guma local government area for criminal conspiracy, act of terrorism and armed robbery.

The seven suspects who were alleged to be on a mission to attack the community were also charged for being in possession of prohibited firearms and ammunitions.

Prosecuting police officer, Edward Imo, gave the names of the suspects as Buhari Gomo, Abubakar Bawa, Jatau Mohammed, Jibril Isah, Dakin Kyaibu, Dhiru Sani and Musa Lafia.

According to the prosecution, the Nigerian Army received information that the gang, who was responsible for the killing of innocent citizens in August this year, were unlawfully camped at a hide out in Gbajimba in order to attack the community again. Based on the information, the police swung into action and arrested them, recovering arms and ammunitions, including three AK 47s with live ammunitions, four handsets, a bag of charms and other prohibited firearms.

But when the case came up, Chief Magistrate Isaac Ajim ordered that the accused be remanded at Makurdi prisons, adjourning the case to the 31st of October for further mentioning.
