A 20-year-old man, Mohammed Fahad, was on Tuesday arraigned in a Karshi Grade 1 Area Court, Abuja, for stealing security lamp fittings in the house of a police officer.
Fahad, who was arraigned on three counts bordering on trespass, mischief and theft, however, denied committing the offences.
The prosecutor, Mahmud Lawal, told the court that one David Simon reported the matter at the Karu Police Station, Abuja, on August 28.
He said that the complainant alleged that on August 26, the defendant criminally trespassed into the house of one CSP Usman Magaji at Karu, Abuja, willfully damaged and dishonestly stole security light fittings valued at N54,000.
Lawal also informed the court that the defendant sold the stolen items to one Safullahi Hassan at the rate of N1,300 per unit.
According to the prosecutor, the offences contravened the provisions of Sections 348, 327 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Aliyu Kagarko, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300,000, with one surety in like sum and adjourned the case until October 16 for hearing.
