The President of the Court of Appeal, Justice Zaninab Bulkachukwa, has constituted a tribunal to entertain petitions arising from the August 18, 2018 by-election for the Takum 1 Constituency of Taraba State.
The secretary of the tribunal, Hajiya Aishatu Abubakar, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday in Jalingo.
“Honourable Justice Bulkachukwa, pursuant to Paragraph 133(3)(a) and (b) of the Electoral Act, as amended, constituted the Taraba Assembly tribunal for the Takum 1 constituency by-election,” the statement read.
It explained that the deadline for the submission of petitions was midnight of September 8, 2018.
It called on aggrieved parties in the election to file their petitions at the Sharia Court of Appeal Complex in Jalingo, on or before the September 8 deadline.
It will be recalled that Garba Ajiya of the Peoples Democratic party was declared winner of the by-election, while the candidate of the All Progressive Congress, Atem Ansho, rejected the result.
