Gang members land in jail for robbery in Katsina
Four members of a nine-man robbery gang are now in prison custody in Katsina following their arrest after a robbery operation in the Dandume Local Government Area of the state.
Police said members of the gang invaded the house of one Suleiman Yunusa of Dan Maiyaki community about 1 am, attacked him and burgled his shop located within the house.

They allegedly made away with items including one Hero motorcycle valued at N150,000; confectionery and groceries, unspecified amount of money and electronic items.

It was further revealed that the suspects were arrested shortly after Yunusa reported the incident at Dandume divisional police headquarters.

Those arrested included Ibrahim Abubakar,20; Abdulkarim Abdu, 45; Bishir Muazu,27 and Muntari Yusuf, 20.

According to the police, Abubakar’s confession after his arrest led to the arrest of three other members.

The four suspects who were arraigned before a Katsina senior magistrates’ court on Tuesday were remanded in prison custody till September 26, 2018, when their case was scheduled to come up for mention before Senior Magistrate Hajiya Fadile  Dikko.

Police gave the names of the fleeing members of the gang as Kadi Anta, More Anta, Lalibi Bomshe, Sahabi Shale and Kabir Babaye.

The suspects were facing charges of criminal conspiracy and armed robbery, which police said, were contrary to Sections 6b and 1(2)(a)(b) of the Robbery and Firearms Special Provision Act, Cap R11, LFN, 2004.

Police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that investigation was still in progress, adding that efforts were on to arrest other suspects.
