The former managing director and chief executive officer of Access Bank, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede, has advised lawyers to play more active role in social reengineering.
Speaking on sustainable economic development at the ongoing Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) yearly conference in Abuja, he expressed regret that there had been a lot of talks and articulation of Nigeria’s problems, which are well known, but not much had been done in tackling them.
To him, the task of fixing Nigeria’s problems lies in the development of concrete plans that would resolve the crisis.
Aig-Imoukhuede charged lawyers to embrace the challenge and gear up for the development of a sustainable economy for Nigeria, noting that lawyers play vital role in any nation’s development.
“There is no where a sustainable economic development exists without lawyers playing vital role. It is important for you to key into that as officers in the temple of justice,” he said.
Earlier, the Minister of Budget and Economic Planning, Udo Udoma, who spoke on the same topic said President Muhammadu Buhari’s government recognised the importance of lawyers in economic development.
He disclosed that there are eight lawyers serving under the current administration to underscore his claim.
