A Kenyan court has refused to grant bail to Denis Kimani, after he insulted his mother, Lucy Muthoni, and threatened to deal with her outside the court, for supporting his estranged wife.
Kimani was arraigned for calling his mother names as well as telling her that she gave birth “to too many children’ after she welcomed his (Kimani’s) estranged wife to their home in Umoja. He allegedly also threatened to beat his mother during the altercation on August 9, reports Kenya’s SDE.
The court heard that the accused arrived home at 7pm and met his estranged wife, whom according to the police, had come to collect her belongings.
Police said Kimani was not impressed when he met his estranged wife at his home in the company of his mother.
Police said Kimani demanded to know why his ex-wife was in his home.
But when his mother stepped in to calm him down, Kimani allegedly turned his fury on his mother for welcoming the woman to their home.
The court heard that Kimani mocked his mother for giving birth to too many children but chose to make life unbearable for him alone. It took the arrival of neighbours to calm Kimani.
Kimani pleaded not guilty to the charges.
However, the court refused to grant him bail, after his mother told the court she feared for her safety as the accused promised to deal with her afterwards.
He will be in police custody till September 29, when his case will be heard.
