The crisis rocking the All Progressives Congress (APC), in Imo State is worsening as the faction loyal to the state governor, Rochas Okorocha, allegedly secretly entered the seized office of the party located off Imo University Junction, Okigwe Road, Owerri, by the police, after a minor fire that torched an office of the headquarters, allegedly installing the Owerri zonal chairman of the party, Chris Oguoma, as the acting State Chairman of the party in the state.

In the event said to have been attended by Okorocha’s son-in-law, Uche Nwosu, deputy Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Ugonna Ozuruigbo, Majority Leader of the state assembly, Lugard Osuji, among some state government officials, they allegedly claimed that the State chairman, Hilary Eke, his deputy, Ugochukwu Nzekwe, the Organizing Secretary, Clement Anozie, and the Publicity Secretary, Nwabueze Oguchienti, were suspended before they held their State Congress last Saturday.

That same Saturday, the group known as Coalition/Restoration believed to be politically fighting Okorocha, which has political big wigs in the state such as Ifeanyi Araraume, Benjamin Uwajimuogu, Osita Izunaso, Eze Meremadu, Theodore Ekechi, and Congress committee from the party’s headquarters Abuja, held state congress at the NDDC Skills Acquisition Centre, Ehime Mbano Local Government, Imo State, claiming that they were not served any court order by the Federal High Court, Owerri, presided over by Justice Lewis Allagoa, to maintain status quo, returning Eke and Nzekwe, as the chairman and deputy respectively.
