The National Judicial Council (NJC) has recommended the appointment of 21 successful candidates as heads of courts and judicial officers for the Federal and State High Courts and the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
The appointment was made at the 86th meeting of the Council, which took place on May 8, under the chairmanship of the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Walter Onnoghen.
According the statement issued yesterday by NJC’s Director of Information, Mr. Soji Oye, the successful candidates include Chief Judge of Kebbi State, Justice Elizabeth A. Karatu; Chief Judge of Katsina State, Justice Musa Danladi Abubakar; Grand Kadi of Katsina State, Kadi Alhafiz Mikail Abubakar; and President, Customary Court of Appeal, FCT, Justice Abbazih Musa Abubakar Saddeeq.
Others are Judges of the High Court of Niger State, Justices Bilikisu Gambo Yusuf and Ishaku Usman; Judges for the High Court of Borno State, Justices Musa Mustapha, Baba Gani Karumi and Waziri Alhaji Abubakar.
Also appointed were Judges for the High Court of Kogi State, Husaini Alhasan Saidu, Zubair Saliu and Ruth Alolo Alfa.
Those for the High Court of Gombe State include Muhammad Haruna and Fatima Musa.
Meanwhile, Abieyuwa Anabor has been appointed member of the Code of Conduct Tribunal.
According to Oye, the newly- appointed candidates would be sworn in after the approval of President Muhammadu Buhari and their respective state governors.
