Federal High Court in Ikoyi, Lagos State
A Federal High Court in Lagos has ordered two naval officers – Captains Olotu Morakinyo and Ebony Aneke – to temporarily forfeit their landed properties located in the highbrow Lekki area of Lagos to the Federal Government.

Justice Muslim Hassan made the forfeiture order on Wednesday following an ex parte application by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.

In the application, the anti-graft agency alleged that the naval officers, who were attached to the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency as Guard Commanders, acquired the properties with proceeds of fraud.

It listed the properties as a three-bedroom terrace duplex, located at Lekki Gardens Limited Phase 4 Lekki-Ajah and a five-bedroom duplex in Lekki, Lagos.

Apart from the houses, the court also ordered the temporary forfeiture of  N11,040, 000 found in the bank account of a company, Lakewood Garden Ventures Limited, said to be linked to Aneke and his sister, Jimmie.

Justice Hassan, after ordering the temporary forfeiture of the assets, gave anyone interested in them 14 days to appear before him to show cause why the assets should not be permanently forfeited to the Federal Government.

He ordered the EFCC to publish the order in a national newspaper to give interested parties benefit of knowing.

He adjourned the case till April 16, 2018.
