The management of Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON) has instituted lawsuit against the Managing Director of Agastorm Limited, Nonso Udoye, before the Federal High Court in Lagos, over an allegation that he forged the agency’s logo.
SON claimed that Udoye affixed its seal on 147 cartons of NSNOWS gas refrigerants of 12 cylinders each.

He was said to have allegedly committed the act on November 7, 2017 and kept the products in his warehouse situated at No 219 Borno Way Ebute Meta, Lagos.

The prosecuting counsel for SON, Mrs. Amaka Allen-Ngbale, said officials of the agency discovered the warehouse on January 19, 2018.

She claimed that Udoye’s intention was to present the products to the public as if they were genuinely certified by SON.

Udoye was arraigned before Justice Saliu Saidu on 15 counts bordering on forgery and counterfeiting of SON production registration logo.

Allen-Ngbale told the judge that the businessman acted contrary to, among others, Section 468 of the Criminal Code Act CAP C39 LFN 2004.

She said he was liable to be punished under Section 467 of the Criminal Code Act CAP C39 LFN 2004.

But Udoye pleaded not guilty to the 15 charges.

Justice Saidu remanded him in the prison custody pending the hearing of his bail application.

He adjourned till March 23, 2018 for trial.
