Police arrest three teenagers for stealing motorcycle at mosque in Katsina
Three teenagers, who allegedly stole a motorcycle parked in front of a mosque where its owner was observing evening prayers, have been arrested by the police in Katsina.

The teenagers, who are residents of Kandangari Quarters in Dutsinma, Katsina State, have been remanded at the Katsina Children Home on the order of a senior magistrate court.

Another accused, Yusuf Abdullahi, brought before the court, was also remanded in the prison custody in connection with the case.

All the four suspect will appear before a Katsina Senior Magistrate’s Court on March 29, 2018, on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, theft, belonging to a gang of thieves and “attempt to commit an offence, to wit: receiving stolen property.”

Police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court on Thursday when the four were arraigned for cognizance purpose, that investigation was still in progress and prayed for an adjournment.

He maintained that the offences allegedly committed by the four and one other accused simply identified as Badamosi, still at large, were contrary to sections 97, 287, 306 and 95 of the Penal Code.

The prosecutor told the court that on January 26, 2018, one Alhaji Bahari Bello, a resident of Dutsinma, lodged a report at Dutsinma Police Station that his blue-colour Suzuki Ax 100 motorcycle, with registration number, DTM 073QA, valued at N70,000,was stolen in front of the mosque where he was observing evening prayers.

According to the police, the three teenagers were arrested the following day at Modoji Village, while still in possession of the said motorcycle.

The police said the teenagers allegedly confessed to have stolen the motorcycle from where it was parked and had even asked one Yusuf Abdullahi and Badamosi to buy it.

The teenagers reportedly turned down the  N15,000 offered for the motorcycle by the two men.

While police were able to arrest Abdullahi, Badamosi is said to be at large.

The magistrate, Hajiya Faleela Dikko, adjourned the case for mention and directed that the teenagers be remanded at the Katsina Children Home while Abdullahi was remanded in the prison custody.
