Journalist with Daily Sun Newspaper brutalised with matchete by hoodlum in Taraba
Daily Sun correspondent attacked by hoodlums

Taraba correspondent of Daily Sun Newspaper, Silvanus Viashima, was on Friday night attacked by armed hoodlums.  The incident, which took place at about 10 p.m along the Federal Government Girls College (FGGC) Road, Jalingo, the state capital, left the journalist with machete wounds.

Viashima, presently on admission at the Federal Medical Center, Jalingo, said the men accosted him on his way home. He said they took nothing from him. Reacting, the leadership of the Correspondent Chapel, Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), urged the police and other security operatives to fish out the perpetrators.

Chairman of the Chapel, Wole Ayodele, encouraged his colleagues to continue to discharge their responsibilities.The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), David Misel, said two suspects have been arrested in relation to the crime.
