The State Commander of the NDLEA, Mr.WakawaBuba, told Southern City News that the convicts were among the 240 suspects arrested by the command within the period.
Buba explained that a total of 285,000 kilograms of cannabis were seized from the suspects in different parts of the state, while the agency destroyed 240,000kg of the weed during an operation.
According to him, nine of the suspects were convicted in the first quarter while the conviction of 11 suspects was recorded in the second quarter.
The commander, in a statement by the command’s Public Relations Officer, Mitchell Ofoyeju, also stated that another set of 11 persons were convicted within the last two quarters of the year.
Buba, however, noted that a total of 136 cases were still pending in court. He has vowed to make the state drug-free.
