A Kaduna State Magistrate’s Court presided over by Hajiya Falila Dikko has order the remand of a middle-aged man, Murtala Abdullahi in Katsina Prison allegedly murdering his uncle, Ahmed
Umar, 50, while the victim was asleep.
Murtala Abdullahi was arraigned on Thursday before the magistrate. Abdullahi, has been remanded in the Katsina
Prison till February 26, 2018 without bail.
The prosecution informed the Magistrate that Abdullahi of Gidan Goma, Bazanga village in the Danja Local Government Area of the state,allegedly stabbed his uncle many times in different parts of the body, leading to the uncle’s death.
The incident was said to have happened on December 8, 2017.
Both Abdullahi and the uncle were reported to have slept in the same room when the accused suddenly woke up in the middle of the night and allegedly stabbed the deceased with a knife.
The police said the accused did not give any reason for his action, adding that Umar died before any help could reach him.
It was gathered that one Aminu Umaru, who resided in the same house with Abdullahi and the deceased, reported the incident at Danja police station.
Abdullahi was consequently arraigned before the court for culpable homicide which the police said was contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code.
The police prosecutor, Inspector Sani Ado, told the court that investigation was still ongoing and prayed for an adjournment.
The court adjourned the matter till February 26, 2018.
