Arrested along the Nigerien was Anas Yusuf, 25, of Kongolam village in the Mai’adua Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The duo were alleged to have conspired to murder Mohammed who was a commercial cyclist and thereafter made away with his motorcycle.

Police sources in Katsina told Northern City News that early in December, the two suspects had asked Mohammed to convey them from Kongolam to Taketa village in Niger Republic, during which they allegedly murdered him.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Beseng Gwana, who confirmed the incident, said, “Before reaching Taketa village, the suspects forced the rider to stop in the bush, attacked and killed him.

“The suspects abandoned the corpse and made away with the motorcycle.

“They were later apprehended with the said motorcycle at Mai’adua and have confessed to have committed the crime. They will be arraigned in court immediately investigation is completed,” he said.

Meanwhile, the Special Anti-Robbery Squad, during a patrol along Dandume/Sabuwa Road on December 14, killed a suspected armed robber on the Marrarabar/Maigora axis of the road.

It was learnt that the armed robbers engaged the cops in a gun duel but they were overpowered with one of them killed.

Gwana said the SARS team acted on a distress call.

The operatives recovered one AK47 rifle with breech number 4011371 and 13 rounds of live ammunitions from the fleeing robbers.
