The Olu of Igbokoda, Oba Afolabi Odidiomo was recently attacked by some youths suspected to be thugs in Igbokoda, the headquarters of Ilaje Local Government Area of Ondo State.

The Olu of Igbokoda, Oba Afolabi Odidiomo was cut with a machete and left in the pool of his own blood. But two suspects had been arrested by the state police in connection with the incident.

The “130 Crowns Club” who described the attack on the monarchs in the state as an abomination and clear indication that government no longer values their revered stools.

Aladeokun of Alade Idanre, Oba Olusegun Akinbola while addressing journalists on behalf of the “130 Crowns Club”, expressed displeasure over the attacks on the traditional rulers in the state, saying the continuous attacks on royal fathers was a great indication that government had failed in protecting her citizens.

The monarch said it was downgrading for the leader of the suspected hoodlums that attacked Odidiomo, “one Tale Iwatan and his gang members to still be walking freely in the state after they were allegedly identified to be responsible for the attack that inflicted various degrees of injuries on Oba Odidiomo.”

He added  that the failure of security agencies to arrest and prosecute the thugs that attacked Odidiomo showed that the security of the Obas did not mean anything to the government.

Oba Akinbola said, “We find unpalatable and unacceptable for the police and the government to be foot-dragging in prosecuting the thugs and their sponsors.

” The security operatives should always do the needful at the right time to prevent people from taking  the law into their own hands.”
