At the High Court in ABuja, the police prosecutor have amended the murder charges instituted against Maryam Sanda, who allegedly stabbed her husband, Bilyamin Bello, to death.
In the amended charges filed before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Jabi, the police added the mother of the accused and a former Executive Director of Aso Savings and Loans, Hajiya Maimuna Aliyu, and two others to the list of defendants.
While informing the trial judge, Justice Yusuf Halilu, of the new development on Thursday, the prosecuting counsel, Mr. James Idachaba said the prosecution had not been able to serve the new defendants.
The judge then fixed December 14 for the arraignment of all the defendants.
Sanda was earlier arraigned on November 24 when she pleaded not guilty to the counts of murder of her husband.
She was then remanded in Suleja prison ahead of her trial on Thursday.
On Thursday, the new defence lawyer, Mr. Joseph Daudu (SAN), made an oral application for the release of the widower from prison.
But the judge refused the application and sent her back to prison.
