Court remands three for robbery
Police have arraigned three suspected robbers before a Magistrate’s Court in Ikeja, Lagos State, for allegedly robbing residents of New Heaven Estate in the Iba area of the state.

The suspects – Monday John, Ibrahim Musa and Emmanuel lmo– were arraigned on five counts bordering on conspiracy and armed robbery before  a magistrate, B.O. Osusanmi.

It was gathered that the defendants repaired generators for residents on the estate.

The police prosecutor, Inspector lmhonwa Simeon, said two locally-made guns, knives, a laptop, phones and shoes, were recovered from them.

The charges read in part, “That you, Monday John, Emmanuel lmo, Ibrahim Musa and others at large, on August 6, 2017, at about 8pm on New Heaven Estate, lba, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, while armed with two locally-made guns and knives, stole a laptop, phones, cash, among other valuables, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 297(1)(2)(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.”

The defendants’ pleas were not taken.

The magistrate directed that they be remanded in prison, while a duplicate of the case file should be forwarded to the Directorate of Public Prosecutions for legal advice. The case was adjourned till January 29, 2018.
