The suspects
Akure the capital of Ondo, The Ondo State Police Command of the Nigeria Police service has arrested a commercial driver, Mr. Victor Ologun and a motorcycle rider, Mr. Innocent Ikechuckwu for pilfering three generating sets valued at over N7 million.

The State Police Commissioner, Olugbenga Adeyanju, while parading the suspects yesterday in Akure, disclosed that they also stole N500,000 from a gas plant company after breaking into the offices.

Adeyanju said they reportedly tied the security guard’s hands, legs and covered his face with clothes before forcing their way into the gas plant company to steal the money.

Revealing that each of the generating costs N2.5 million, the commissioner added that they were stolen at different locations but recovered from the same suspects.Five other suspects were also paraded for robbery, car-snatching and other offences, while guns, cash, charms, handsets and other items were recovered from them.

He assured that the other members of gang that were still at large would be arrested by the police and be prosecuted accordingly.The police boss urged the citizenry to always cooperate with the command and report any suspicious persons or activities to the nearest police station.He said the command was determined to reduce crime in the state.

Ologun denied his involvement in the crime. He said his J5 bus was hired by the gang from Port Harcourt in Rivers State.He said when they got to the scene of the crime, he was in the vehicle while his customers went to lift the generating set for which they had engaged his service to transport to Delta State.

The driver noted that he was only paid N80, 000 for his service.But innocent, who livesin Asaba, Delta State, confessed that it was Ologun, who introduced him to the business.He confessed taking the guard’s mobile phone which the police used to track and arrest the gang in Asaba.
