| Aare Ona Kakanfo Designate, Gani Adams |
The Founder and President of Afe Babalola University, Ado Ekiti, Ekiti State, prominent lawyer, Chief Afe Babalola, has said Aare Ona Kakanfo towered above the title of a chief.
Chief Babalola congratulated the National Coordinator of the Oodua Peoples Congress, Chief Gani Adams, recently chosen as the 15th occupier of the position by the Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi.
A statement by the Director of Media and Communications to the Aare Ona Kakanfo Designate, Mr. Femi Adepoju, quoted Babalola as saying during the First South-West Stakeholders’ Summit held in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
Babalola also expressed support for Adams.
He noted that he (Babalola) also held an Aare title bestowed on him by the Alaafin of Oyo.
Babalola was quoted as saying, “Aare is higher than a chief. I was the one who fought for the installation of Chief MKO Abiola when Ooni of Ife didn’t want him to be Aare Ona Kakanfo.
“After that, I was made Aare of Yorubaland in Law by Alaafin; so, I am not at war with the new Aare Ona Kakanfo.”
