Bureau arraigns 31 civil servants, two directors before CCT over false asset declaration on November 7

Code of Conduct Bureau of the Federal Government of Nigeria will, on November 7, arraign before the Code of Conduct Tribunal two directors and 31 other civil servants on charges of false assets declaration.

Head of Press Unit of the CCT, Mr. Ibraheem Al-Hassan, said in a statement on Tuesday that the defendants to be arraigned were senior federal civil servants from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Federal Ministry of Environment, the Nigeria Geological Survey and National Orientation Agency.

Al-Hassan said the officials, whose names were not given, would be arraigned on charges bordering on breach of codes of conduct of public officers.

He said the CCB filed the charges through the office of the Attorney-General of Federation.

He stated, “The Chairman Code of Conduct Tribunal, Hon Danladi Yakubu Umar, has approved November 7, 2017 for the arraignment of two directors and 31 senior federal civil servants for alleged breach of Code of Conduct laws.

“The approval was sequel to request from Code of Conduct Bureau for his lordship to commence trial of the civil servants who were drawn from Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Federal Ministry of Environment, and others from some federal agencies thus: Nigeria Geological Survey and National Orientation Agency.

“The alleged charges against the officers are of different degrees, but all border on asset declaration breaches, as filed by Code of Conduct Bureau through the office of Attorney General of the Federation.”
